The Friends of the Canastota Public Library are thinking about starting a community Knitting group. Knitting a soft touch for a friend (Allen American Star) In a back, windowed corner of the Allen Senior Recreation Center, a growing group of friends can be found most weekday mornings drinking coffee and conversing about the local happenings and how each other?s families are doing. Foulks Ranch Yarn Club receives Wal-Mart grant (Elk Grove Citizen) The Yarn Club at Foulks Ranch Elementary School was the recipient of a $1,000 grant - courtesy of Wal-Mart. Foulks Ranch?s Yarn Club came to fruition after a small group of third and fourth grade students decided to begin knitting caps for babies in need. Knitting friendships at a Greenvale yarn shop (Newsday) Every Tuesday a group of 10 or so women gathers around a table in Greenvale, telling stories and offering support over births, divorces, deaths and everything in between. "It's like therapy," said Cheryl Lavenhar, one of the leaders. National Museum of the Marine Corps Hosts ''Knitting for Marines'' (Centre Daily Times) The National Museum of the Marine Corps will host "Knitting for Marines" from 1p.m.-4p.m. each Saturday in February. Knitters and crocheters are invited to the Museum each Saturday to help create wool helmet liners to be sent to Marines stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
